Wildcard Friday...

Okay, if you watched American Idol Wednesday night then you witnessed the big argument between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey; resulting in Nicki storming off the set. Hmmm...

Whaja think??? Real or manufactured?

My vote is phony, fake, faux! I think it was all contrived to increase 'Idol's' flagging ratings. Come on guys, this is your 998th season; you can't expect even the "best talent contest" on TV to last forever. Must you resort to cheap sideshows to boost viewers? Trust me, if the show is worn out (which I believe it is) these kind of tricks won't work for long.

Just keepin' it real...

Oh my goodness, my broken dreams and shattered ideals!! It's been reported and yes, even videoed, that Subway's 12 inch sandwich is only 11 inches. My poor, poor disillusioned heart!

In case you have been living under a rock (or haven't listened to the news) the big uproar is over an Australian teenager's picture of a Subway sandwich measured at a mere 11 inches.

Yes, you heard it here first!! (Well, maybe second???) And yes, Subway is being sued over the missing inch. Huh uh...

I'd like to know how this could be played out? How would a judge ever determine the pay outs? By the inch? How could anyone prove the missing inches they were cheated? Who (besides this teenager) normally measures their sub? Who remembers how many subs they've ever eaten? The questions go on and on...and most importantly...

what is this world coming to?

One more thing...

Don't know what the individuals motive was in posting a video of some Calgary Police officers apparently racing their cars to get to Tim Horton's,
but heh, who wouldn't want to rush over to Timmy's?  Besides isn't coffee and donuts built into a cop's DNA?

By the way, it was discovered the police officers weren't really drag racing...

Tha tha that's all folks!  Have a happy Freaky Friday!

Tuesday Tid Bits...

Life can change in a heartbeat. I know this. You know this. Yet, we forget between heartbeats, don't we? Until...

some life altering event happens to someone we know; then we stop short and think...

"That could have happened to me."
"I remember when that DID happen to me."
"Why do things like this have to happen?"

You get the picture.
*************************************************************
I had a thought...Hmmmm...

what if suddenly every weight loss program, motivational conference, AA meeting, drug rehab program and church service became 100% successful 100% of the time?

Would they run out of people to rehabilitate or reform?

Would they go eventually go broke and/or out of business due to lack of participation?

Would the folks who chose not to seek help for their issues feel pressured to join in or just eventually die off from heart disease, a drug overdose, alcoholism etc.

What would the world look like as a slimmed down, healthy, drug free, successful and morally responsible version of itself?

Hmmmm...just thinking.
**********************************************************
Here's some questions to think about when you have an idle moment...

1. Can a storm be officially designated as a tornado without touching down at a trailer park?
2. Can atheists get insurance for acts of God?
3. How can something be 'new and improved'? If it's new what was it improving on?
4. How can there be a limited lifetime warranty?
5. How come when you are driving through a neighborhood looking for an address, you turn the radio down?

And last, but not least..

6. How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work in the mornings?
************************************************************
That's it, that's all! Have a Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Tid Bits...

Okay, hard for me to focus today as I woke with a very harsh headache that after...

- whining and complaining
- 2 rounds of pills
- whining more
- heat wrap on neck x two
- more complaining
- rubbing tiger balm on temples and neck
- continued whining and complaining

is just now starting to ease up a little...a very little bit. And...

why is it when you wake up with a headache that it can be impossible to shake it all day???

Okay enough about me...
***********************************************************
In the news...

HOCKEY IS BACK!!

Okay, okay for you nonhockey fans or is it you hockey nonfans??? Hmmmm...

I know you could care less and probably enjoyed not having to skirt around scheduled games on TV, but...

For those diehard rootie, toot, tooting (paint your face the team colors) fans...

...in those famous words " IT'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA!!"
************************************************************

Also, in the news...

There is an inquiry into queue jumping in Alberta. The accusation is that there are certain people in the health care system who are able to receive preferential treatment due to who they are or who they know.

 Dah!

When did this occur to the powers that be? Come on! Grow up!

Us common folk have known for years that certain people get preferential treatment for any number of reasons. Anyone who has worked in or has known someone who works in the health care system, probably knows of actual instances of queue jumping.

And let's get real...

It happens everywhere, in every walk of life...

Yes, it does!!

If you know the right people or you have the power then; you simply receive preferred seating at "full" restaurants, favoured tickets to "sold out" events, no waiting in lines, etc, etc...

...and yes, queue jumping in health care (whether anyone admits or not)!

This inquiry is a grand waste of taxpayers money. Come on guys, use your time and resources to achieve something useful.
************************************************************
One more thing...

Convicted animal killer, Kayla Bourque, is being released on probation to live in Vancouver. Doctors have diagnosed her as a sexual sadist with anti-social personality disorder and sociopath tendencies.

Scary or what? She has shown no remorse and admits to dreaming of killing homeless people. The probation is extremely strict and will use every means possible to control the situation. But...

this is an evil person who is only 23 years old. Can she be closely montored for her entire life?

For the sake of all animals and people, I sure hope so...

I just wonder why she couldn't be locked up in a high security mental ward rather the set loose on a unsuspecting public???

That, that, that's all folks....

I Resolve to...

Happy New Year!  It is officially time where many people...most people...okay, okay...

Me, myself and I...

bring out the tired, old and worn resolutions of so many yesteryear's that I have lost count. I think I may have made them all at least once in my lifetime, but...

NO MORE!!

NOT THIS YEAR!!

***********************************************************

I declare war on all the cliche resolutions like:
  • ask for raise
  • look for new job (hmmm)
  • lose weight
  • eat healthy
  • exercise more
  • stop smoking, drinking, body piercing
  •  whatever!!
I have been looking at New Year resolutions all wrong for all these years; yes indeedy...

Why set myself up for continued humiliation and defeat?
Why not try something different?
I need a fresh, new approach for starting the New Year and I believe I may have discovered it!

I give you...

my new, improved resolution list following...(drum rollll, plu..eeze!)

The  Dr Seuss Approach to the New Year!

1.  “Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”

2.  “If things start happening, don't worry, don't stew, just go right along and you'll start happening too.”

3.  “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”

4.  “Think and wonder, wonder and think.”

5.  “You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.”

And last, but not least....

 6.  "I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”

************************************************************

With that have a very Happy New Year!!
